HR Advice.com is created, designed and managed by Bob Hoffman. As an extension of a successful
Human Resources consulting practice HR Advice.com is designed to provide Human Resources
information and advice delivered online in a consultative interactive manner.
Bob Hoffman Bob is a senior Human Resources professional with over 15 years Human Resources management
experience and principal of HR Advice.com. Over the past five years his consulting practice
has specialized in organizational diagnostics, recruiting, employee relations, training,
feedback and innovative HR solutions. Prior to creating HR Advice.com, Bob has been on
long-term assignments with many Fortune 500 organizations including several units of General
Electric (NBC and GE Capital), additionally Bob has or is currently working with KPMG,
AlliedSignal, Boston Scientific Corporation, Dun & Bradstreet and the Ogden Corporation.
Bob has been recognized by the Society of Human Resources Management as a contributor to the
advancement of the Human Resources profession for his research and published article on
multi-rater feedback featured in HR Magazine. Prior to consulting Bob held several
Human Resources management positions with large and small employers in the manufacturing and
financial services industries.
In addition to multiple professional certifications and a BA degree, Bob is a graduate of the
Masters program at Fairleigh Dickinson University specializing in Human Resources Psychology.
Bob has conducted workshops and speaking engagements for dozens of organizations in government,
non-profit, community service and corporate situations.
Ellen Schecter Ellen is a senior Human Resources professional with over 15
years experience. She has worked both as internal staff and external consultant
to organizations of varying size across multiple industries including utilities, biotech, and healthcare. Her areas of expertise include
organizational assessment and development, change management, team development, management coaching, training and leadership
development, employee relations, performance management, and employment discrimination
law.
Ellen holds a BA in Sociology from the University of Washington, an MS in
Industrial Relations from the University of Oregon, and is pursuing a
doctorate in Psychology. She has conducted hundreds of workshops and spoken
at conferences nationwide. At various times in her career she has been a
member of several professional associations, speaker's bureaus and a guest
lecturer for both graduate and undergraduate university classes.
Michael Caro
Mike is a human resources professional with ten years Human
Resources management experience. Mike's current human resources consulting practice
specializes in public and private sector employee relations, compensation/classification system design, human resources
policy/program development and performance management systems development.
Prior to beginning his consulting practice, Mike was Director of Employer-Employee Relations for a multi-campus community college
district with 2,200 employees serving more than 71,000 students. Mike's significant
employee relations experience was obtained previously working with more than
3,000 county, city and special district employees. Mike also held the
position of Program Director for a job development/training organization.
In addition to significant human resources/employee relations experience and
a BA degree, Mike is a graduate of a Master's program in Public Administration with graduate course work in statistics, computer
applications, management processes, organizational theory, research methods,
public policy analysis, leadership, negotiations and employee relations.
Mike has also completed one year of law school education.
Nancy Zoss
Nancy Zoss began her corporate career working in the insurance
and automotive industries. Her experience includes several years with Honda
Motor Corporation. Following Honda, she set out on her own to lend her
expertise as a consultant, working with companies such as Hughes Aircraft
Co. and Eaton Corporation.
Nancy's success created a full time position as Human Resources Manager for
Eaton. This long-term assignment with Eaton developed Nancy's expertise in
organizational enhancement, management development, performance reviews, corrective action and creation of Human Resources policies and
procedures.
Most recently, Nancy has worked as an executive/technical recruiter, serving
manufacturing companies in Southern California. Nancy is especially skilled in employee relations, recruitment,
training, employment policies and employment law, and benefits. She is a graduate of
California State University at Northridge where she received a Bachelors in
English. She returned to receive a California Teaching Credential and later began laying the groundwork at UCLA for a Masters in
Psychology.
Barbara Kabealo - is a Senior HR Professional with 12 years of experience
primarily with Fortune 500 companies and now, the start up .com world. She
has worked for Universal Studios, Blue Cross of California, Norris
Industries (A division of MASCO) and Lockheed Aeronautical. Her experiences
have included extensive employee and labor relations, m&a integrations,
executive coaching, strategic staffing and organizational design and
development.
Prior to Blue Cross, Barbara worked for Government Contractors in
manufacturing environments where she specialized in Labor Relations.
She has sat at the bargaining table through a strike, successfully
presented the Company's position in Arbitration and creatively resolved
grievances.
Barbara attended California State Polytechnic University where she
received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an
emphasis in Management and Human Resources. Over her career, she has conducted
Management Training in Human Resources, policies & practices and is
a certified Zenger-Miller Instructor.
Janet Garber
Janet has worked as a Human Resources Executive in NYC for over 15
years in the fields of education, healthcare, banking, manufacturing,
and wine and spirits. Recently she accepted a new position as Director
of Human Resources and Staff Services in Manhattan for a small
not-for-profit firm. Previously, she held the position of Employment
and Employee Relations Manager at the Weill Medical College of Cornell
University (formerly known as Cornell University Medical College - one
of the top 10 medical schools in the country) for more than 10 years.
Her accomplishments included creating Management Development seminars,
resolving many employee relations and legal compliance issues for a
workforce of 3000, and overseeing the recruitment and hiring of 500
new employees each year in administrative, technical and clerical positions.
Two previous positions as Director of Human Resources in mortgage banking
and heavy manufacturing firms entailed the start-up of the HR functions.
In addition to her HR career, Janet has established herself as a writer
and journalist with a specialty in career and business topics. She has
published articles in the Wall Street Journal, National Business Employment Weekly,
Managing Your Career, New York Post (CareerPlus Section), Journal of
Career Planning and Employment, Careers and the Disabled, Career Magazine, Jewish
Week, Woman's Own, Women's News, Long Island Boating World, This Week, and
others. She is also involved in teaching and training at local colleges
and has been a guest lecturer on campuses and at membership association
national conferences.
Janet received a BA from Queens College in English/French and an MA (ABD)
in English from the University of Rochester. Upon obtaining her graduate
degree, she worked briefly in Mexico and for four years in France and
speaks fluent French and some Spanish.
Susan Gordon
Susan is a Senior Human Resources professional with 13 years of HR
management experience. Susan's experience has primarily been with Fortune
500 companies ranging from manufacturing (Whirlpool), consumer goods
(Clairol), high tech (Quotron), and financial services (CitiGroup and
Chase Manhattan Bank).
Susan has had the unique experience to have managed HR operations in the
UK, as well as, being an expatriate HR manager in Asia for 3 years. In
addition to her international experience, Susan-s focus of expertise also includes
employee relations (union and non-union), acquisitions/divestitures,
outplacement, policy development/interpretation, and recruitment.
Along with numerous professional certifications, Susan holds a BA degree
in Sociology from Hanover College
