CCLC's Texas expansion comes when the need for
off-hours childcare is increasing. A study conducted by the Texas Association
of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies cited, among other issues, lack of
available childcare before 6 a.m. and after 6 p.m. In an article about the
study that ran in the October 2, 1999 edition of The Dallas Morning News, Texas
Workforce Commission chairwoman Diane Rath added that off-hours child care is
in greater demand because the state's booming economy has generated jobs
requiring night-shift work.
